The TheGame23 FAQ

What is TheGame23?
If you ask us, it's bullshit. It is fake. On some level, it's a scam, not targeting your money but your time and energy. It is dangerous, but not in a rewardingly exciting way. The nicest way to describe TheGame23, also known as #thegame23 or #tg23, might be "an out-of-control, edgy, magickal art project simulating an ARG" (alternate reality game). It is complete self-purpose, a promotional "game", only meant to promote itself. It's a negative neural feedback loop, an obsessive memetic virus. A failed experiment. It drags in vulnerable and mentally unstable people with promises of revealing esoteric knowledge. Actually though, there is no hidden secret. The only goal of TheGame23 is producing content meant to promote TheGame23 and dragging in more people to continue the cycle.
But it looks like an ARG, what if I just play through?
There is no "through". Nobody is organising it, nobody has a plan. It's just people obsessed with TheGame23 posting content to spread the word. There is no reward for you at the end because there is no end, it's just going on and on. There isn't even a joke to laugh about.
What is Galdrux?
Galdrux is meant to be a kind of egregore emerging from the hypersigil that is TheGame23, but if the personality of this entity is shaped by its roots, then it's probably just some hollow bullshit spirit, a cheap imitation of the blind idiot god Azathoth. It's what you get when you order XaTuring on Wish. It's the embodiment of this weird obsessive esoteric knock-off-dadaist pseudo-gnosticism.
What's the relationship of TheGame23 with Cidada 3301 and Anonymous?
There's no relationship between these and TheGame23 except that some participants in TheGame23 thought that their project could profit from these "big names", so they just took over terms and symbolism, often in rather un-subtle ways. TheGame23 isn't an extension of Cicada 3301, even though some of it was inspired by it (I just don't say "copied" because nothing within TheGame23 comes even close to Cicada 3301). "Anonymous" is a name that can be basically claimed by anyone, but that's where the relationship with TheGame23 already ends.
Are there any connections to actual secret agencies?
Nope, except that some participants might be on watchlists for some of the things they've posted online within the context of TheGame23 or otherwise.
Is this just a test to hold me back from the deeper secrets of TheGame23?
Fuck no. This isn't the rabbit hole you wanna explore. This is the badger's burrow you fall in to be killed in. There is nothing to gain, nothing to win, no deeper meaning, no secrets to be unveiled if you "play" it. No, we are not trying to make this more mysterious to arouse your curiosity about it. We are not part of TheGame23, we are not a hurdle for you to overcome to advance in the game. We are trying to tell you that it's pointless to play it.
That's exactly what someone would say to test me!
If you really think that, you are lost and we might feel sorry for you. Bye.
Do you hate the people who play/created TheGame23?
No. Most of them are actually nice, creative and interesting to talk to. Some of them even are or were friends of ours. Which actually makes their whole obsession with TheGame23 even worse to watch. There's a few toxic personalities we rather wouldn't have met though.
Why did you create this FAQ?
Because of our negative experience with TheGame23. It has ruined some of our relationships by entangling our loved ones in meaningless tasks of creating memes to promote itself while neglecting their lives. It is tiring us by leading people in search of TheGame23 to our communities, making us explain over and over again that we don't take part in it and why we think it's dangerous. It also led individuals involved in TheGame23 to us who threatened the existence of our communities as well as our lives over minor misunderstandings. TheGame23 reinforces psychotic and bipolar tendencies in some people, gives some delusions of grandeur and burns out others.
Who are you?
We are a bunch of Discordians who are just very tired of TheGame23. We don't wanna reveal our identities because after what we've been through, we fear retribution from people who feel personally attacked by our criticism of TheGame23.
What's Discordianism?
A humorous religion that's about 60 years old, venerating Eris Discordia, the Graeco-Roman Goddess of chaos, disorder, strife and confusion. It's been called Zen for roundeyes. Fnord. If TheGame23 is nonsensical nonsense, then Discordianism is nonsense that makes sense.
But yeah, even absurdists need to do some real talk sometimes.
